David Crockett David Crockett was appointed to the newly created post of Director of the Office of Sustainability by Mayor Ron Littlefield in December 2009.
For the past ten years he has worked with Cities, Regions and Chambers of Commerce in most of the states and Canadian Provinces as an associate of CitiStates Group, LLC. The CitiStates Group includes 30 current and former elected officials, economists, the former chairman of AMTRAC, the current Deputy Secretary of HUD, national executives of Real Estate and Construction organizations and experts in a wide variety of fields. The Group focuses on addressing issues across political boundaries of city, county, state and in some cases national boundaries.
Following a 20 year career at IBM, he served as a member of the Planning Commission and spent nearly twelve years in Chattanooga city government as a Councilman between 1990 and 2001, including being chairman of the City Council. He became a leading advocate for linking social, environmental and economic and issues together in a single strategy for Chattanooga to be a national and international leader in building sustainable regions.
He has served on numerous national and international advisory boards and task forces including: President’s Council on Sustainable Development, The National Advisory Council of Environmental Policy and Technology, The Climate Institute, the President’s Economic Roundtable, the Asian Pacific Economic Collaborative, National Wildlife Federation and others.
Mr. Crockett received a B.S. degree in Business from the University of Alabama and served as an officer in the U.S. Army.
He has been married to the former Sue Galloway for 40 years and they have four grown children. They are members of the First Baptist Church in downtown Chattanooga. Rotary in August:
