Miracle League of Chattanooga, Inc.

Progress Report– January 2017

Organization

The Board of Directors was reorganized in September to form both a governing board and an associates’ board.  The Governing Board is responsible for the completion of the capital campaign, final contracts with the City of Chattanooga and the YMCA, and the construction process.  The Associates’ Board is responsible for the forming of the Miracle League and working with the Miracle Moms for special event fundraising and awareness.  John Germ is serving as Chairman of the Board; Kim Chapman Nolan is serving as President of the Associates’ Board which also holds a seat on the Governing Board.  The by-laws were amended to reflect this change.

Capital Campaign

Current donations and pledges toward the $1.5 million campaign are currently at $1.2 million with a final push from a new campaign committee of Rotarians.  Significant contributions and pledges include:  Rotary Club of Chattanooga, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Health Foundation, Berkshire-Hathaway Home Services, Miller Industries, Unum, Ronald McDonald House Charities and its McDonald’s Mission Partners, Weldon F. Osborne Foundation, Community Foundation, Lyndhurst Foundation, Generosity Trust, Lillian Colby Foundation, and the Suntrust Foundation.  Board giving participation is 100%.

Construction

The Board is currently negotiating for a general contractor who will be willing to involve sub-contractors in donations of time or materials and seeking donations in-kind of building materials to complete the progress.  A contract is in progress with PlayCore to build and equip the handicap-accessible playground.  Construction on the entire project is expected to commence as soon as weather permits in the spring and completion in time for a fall season.
